There is lots to do in Bundaberg for all the family - but the most famous of course is the local rum distillery, of which you can take a tour. There is a good local art gallery, as well as a local visitor center, but Bundabergs best attractions are all outdoors. Get a local to tell you where to go to see the sea turtles hatch if you are in the area during the winter - what a fabulous experience and a sight to behold. Some of the other outdoor attractions in Bundaberg include heading out of town to the coast for a beach day or checking out the Baldwin Swamp Environment park which is a wetland featuring a lot of different wildlife. For floral attractions in Bundaberg the Botanic Gardens are your best bet. More than a botanic gardens, tis place has a play area, a picnic are and lots of different trails and walkways along which to enjoy the floral attractions. The butterflies certainly enjoy them too! There are a number of formal flower beds however the botanic gardens are better described as a tropical paradise with ferns, trees and other ornamental grasses on display. For less formal floral arrangements, such as wildflowers, check out the Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower reserve. This gorgeous area has lots of brightly coloured wildflowers on display. The wallum plant is in abundance here, and you can also see wedding bush and vanilla lily. The area is a special place and local birds and other fauna surely enjoy the floral attractions too. The Vera Scarth-Johnson Wildflower Reserve is best visited in the spring when the wildflowers are at their peak, but there are flowers on display right through the year. You will have to make a visit in order to check them out - and bring your camera too!
