The city of Ashikaga has plenty of interesting things to do for both locals and visitors alike. The renowned Flower Park is famous for miles around and draws in visitors who are looking to relax and take in the heavenly scents at this gorgeous park. Ashikaga Flower Park is alive in the spring with wisteria, hydrangeas and a multitude of other plants making an appearance. Violet shades are everywhere and the photo opportunities are endless if you arrive in the peak months. However, the ark is planned as such that there will always be a burst of color waiting for you, whatever the season. Those who prefer a less structured garden should head up to the Yahata Rhododendron Community for absolutely stunning displays of pink and red rhododendrons that make for the most beautiful sight. The city of Ashikaga also hosts a traditional cherry blossom festival in spring when the flowers on the trees are in full bloom. This festival includes also some weeping cherry blossoms that are truly spectacular, and many of the trees are lit up at night to further enhance their beauty. Locals and visitors alike gather under these beautiful trees to enjoy the traditional pastime of Hanami and to catch up with friends and relatives.
