On the high Bank of the quiet river, Klyazma located ancient Russian city of Vladimir. It was founded in 1108 (and according to other sources – in 990), then became the Central administrative and political unit of the Rostov - Suzdal Principality.
Together with the inexorable passage of time, the dominant position of the city was somewhat leveled, and Vladimir gradually turned into one of the provincial cities of Russia, while remaining one of the most highly cultural and advanced settlements.
Currently, the city is the administrative center of the same region, with a population of 348 thousand people.
Vladimir is an industrial city, on its territory, there are a large number of various businesses. Among them are such large as the plant "electrical appliance", motor-tractor plant, plants" Rosatom", distilleries and others. All of them are quite intensively pollute the environment. Numerous heating plants and power plant also spoil the air in the city. Fortunately, the destructive impact of technogenic factors to some extent neutralized by the beneficial effects of forests surrounding the city.
Despite its industrial importance, the city is part of the Golden ring of Russia. On its territory, there are about 200 monuments of historical and cultural heritage, among which I would especially like to note the ancient assumption Cathedral, St. Demetrius Cathedral, and of the course-the Golden gate.
Due to the temperate continental climate and proximity to the river, the city is surrounded by greenery in the warm season. After all, geographically it is located in the subzone of coniferous-deciduous forests, and despite the destructive impact of industrial waste, in the surrounding forests, you can still find cranberries, currants, strawberries. Guelder rose found healing, a decoction of which is so good for colds.
In addition, almost within the city, if you are lucky, you can find a beautiful and unusual flower - lady's-slipper. This Northern Orchid with large yellow flowers is listed in the Red book. In Sunny meadows like basking in the sun bells, in the Vladimir region, there are three types of them. In addition, in May, on the edges of the forest shimmers with bright flowers iris Siberian. Water bodies of the region were chosen by the water Lily-nymph, also listed in the Red book.
Moreover, in the city itself, in addition to the ubiquitous dandelions, in the spring freely bloom pansies, crocuses, viola, and on the numerous beds of the city, residents are pleased with a variety of roses and tulips.
