On the outskirts of Osaka, Itami is a favorite destination for plane spotters, and is home to the Itami Sky Park. The park is the place to head for plane lovers and families alike, who enjoy watching the planes taking off as well as the wildflowers and hydrangeas on display. The beautiful Aramaki Rose Garden is another favorite place for visitors who would like to see flowers in Itami. With over ten thousand roses and some refreshing fountains, this park is a hit with families and lovers. About 15 minutes from Itami is the Expo 70 Commemorative Park which is a splendid cherry blossom viewing spot in the spring month – the evenings are a great time to visit as the trees are dressed up with lights and look simply spectacular. Elsewhere, a mere thirty minute drive away from Itami lies Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, which is a former host of the International Greenery Exposition and boasts a huge array of tulips, vibrant azaleas and fragrant roses depending on the season. As with many parks in Japan, the cherry tree blossom viewings that take place in the spring can be viewed here, with almost 2500 cherry trees making for an awesome sight. Make sure to visit the arboretum or you will miss this display!
