INFOINFOINFOINFO

Cartago is the capital of the Cartago Province in Costa Rica, and is located very close to the capital of San Jose, approximately 25 km east of it. The Irazu Volcano is located very close to the city, and at certain points throughout history, has erupted causing some damage to the area. Cartago is home to one of the most beautiful basilicas in Costa Rica, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, built in 1639 but renovated in the years following a massive earthquake with Byzantine-style architecture. Though Cartago itself does not have a wide variety of flora of fauna, a short trip outside of the city will reward any visitor with a plethora of different plants and animals. The Lankester Botanical Gardens of Costa Rica, accessible both from Cartago and from San Jose, contains 15,000 specimens of flowers, such as orchids, heliconia, and bromeliad. The nearby mountains and volcanos also hold a great deal of natural diversity. These flowers can be sent by us, in gorgeous arrangements, to almost any address in the world, as well as to Cartago itself.
