Located on the shores of the Baltic Sea, the capital city of Helsinki is also the largest city in northern Europe. One of the first attractions visitors should see in this historic city is the magnificent Suomenlinna Fortress. Constructed in the early 1700’s, the fort sits on top of 6 separate islands. Across from the fortress is Helsinki ‘s Market Square. Located in the historic center of the capital city, the square dates all the way back to the mid 1600’s.
