INFOINFOINFOINFO

Even though it may have had some problems with its reputation in the past, Wolverhampton really is a fascinating small English city. Along with its museums, shops and galleries there are several historic manor homes and carefully tended gardens. At Moseley Old Hall one can find an authentic knot garden and wander through the complex maze. At Wightwick Manor one can find a traditional English garden. Larkspur, tritomas and foxglove bloom among the asters and bachelor buttons. Yellow daylilies and purple coneflowers can also be found in the manor’s gardens, along with salvias and white Shasta daisies. Heather and azalea bushes are popular in city and private gardens, but it is the fields around the city that really draw attention in the spring and summer. Mini carnations bloom with Queen Anne’s Lace, and wild daisies bring a bright splash of color. Many of the city’s offices, shops and restaurants also make sure to have a pot of mums or petunias out front to welcome visitors in. Residents also love to give and receive flowers, and it is not uncommon to find them cutting blooms from their own gardens. Tiger lilies are mixed with gerbera, and snapdragons are another favorite to add to a cheery bouquet.
