The city of Takarazuka is not necessarily a city which attracts tourists. It is mainly a commuter town with the locals working in nearby Osaka. However it is famed for the all-female Takarazuka Revue which draws audiences in their droves. Ichizo Kobayashi was the founder of this theatre and the first performance was in 1914. Since then his goal of offering “popular theatrical entertainments the whole family is sure to enjoy” has been realized thousands of times over. Be sure to take in a show whilst in Takarazuka and prepare to be mesmerized by the performance! Pay a visit to Kayashima Shrine and the wonderful Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum with its’ fascinating exhibitions, artwork and animations. Enjoy a meal in the restaurant and wander around the beautiful English garden. Make the short journey to Osaka to see the Garden of Floral Culture which is a delight whatever the season. Follow the trails and take in the beauty of the flowerbeds laid out with peonies, roses and hydrangeas. The greenhouse is a sight to behold in itself as it is shaped in the form of a pyramid and designed to resemble a flower bud.
