The capital of England and the United Kingdom, London can trace its history back to before the ancient Romans. Buckingham Palace, the infamous Tower of London and the same named Bridge all are popular tourist attractions, along with Kensington Square and Big Ben. Everyone should visit one of London’s local pubs for a pint and a basket of fish and chips. The tube and the city’s bright red double Decker buses can take visitors anywhere in the city that they wish to visit, including Piccadilly Circus and the beautifully designed British Museum. The medieval Westminster Abbey has seen 40 royal coronations and 16 royal weddings and can give visitors a unique look at England’s history through the eyes of the church. The National Gallery and the Imperial War Museum are also easily accessible by bus or tube, and visitors can also see the royal museum dedicated to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. St Paul’s Cathedral is located close to Kensington Gardens and is the second most popular church in London. The Natural History Museum is within walking distance of the cathedral along with Old Spitalfields Market. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are still popular with London residents, along with the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew. The Chelsea Flower Show is also held every year in the gardens and it gives spectators a chance to see and learn unique gardening tips and take home some of the native English plants. Several open aired markets are also located around the city, with colorful bouquets of carnations, daisies and lilies for sale every morning.
