The singular monument is dedicated to the Antonovka variety of local apples which is also well-known in Ukraine and Belarus. It consists of a 2-meter apple weighing 330 pounds. The diameter of the metal fruit is approximately 5 feet. The author of the monument is the famous Russian sculptor Viacheslav Mykhailovysh Klykov who unveiled it in 2004.
The popularity of the Antonovka variety is explained by the quality of a harvest and the fact that only the Antonovka’s tree sustains harsh winters in Eastern Europe remaining unharmed in early spring.
