The attractions of the Mersey town of St Helens are varied, with something for everyone. A trip to the World of Glass Museum will delight young and old alike, and the town offers great shows in its theatre as well as the interesting North West Museum of Road Transport. For those that appreciate beautiful gardens and flowers, then St Helens has a lot to offer. Victoria Park is a great place to head to check out the varied flora and, in the summer months, take a picnic. There is a pleasant wetland area where those interested in wetland plants can check out a large variety. There is also a pond and a formal garden boasting numerous beautiful plants and flowers. Outside of the town, a walk through Griffin Wood in the spring months will reward with an astonishing burst of colour as wildflowers fill the area and create a meadow around the newly planted trees. Those visiting in May have an interesting event to attend – the popular Patronal Flower Festival that celebrates St Helens day is held in a local church and attracts visitors from the local community and beyond. Hosting a stunning array of church flowers, the festival also has art and craft stalls and local produce for sale.
