Baar Fiori Fiorista

Located just 5 minutes away from the beautiful Zugersee, Bar is a quiet town in the canton of Zug known for its peaceful atmosphere and is especially popular with those who like to spend time outdoors walking and enjoying the clean air. It is also a favourite place to live for high earners as the tax rates in Zug are much lower than in the rest of Switzerland, and there are a large number of expatriates working for multinational firms. The beautiful area around the town is its main appeal, and there are several attractions of note, including the awe inspiring stalagtites and stalagmites found in the Hoelgrotten Caves. Elsewhere, there are several interesting castles, such as the Zug Castle which has an interesting museum focussing on local history. The Clock Tower in Zug affords visitors commanding views over the area. The Zugerberg is another high point – take the cable car up the mountain for a spot of lunch in one of the restaurants for example, or simply enjoy the vistas. Those who want to spot some flowers whilst in Baar will be spoiled for choice. Head first to the Zug Rose Garten – the Rosengarten – which is near to Baar and displays many different varieties of beautiful fragrant roses. Elsewhere, in the great outdoors, the warmer spring months are excellent times to do a spot of wildflower searching in and around Baar. As the snow melts you will be rewarded with cyclamen and cowslips. Later, as summer approaches, keep your eyes peeled for Switzerland’s national flower – the edelweiss. You’ll need to hike a bit to find this flower tough as it only grows at certain altitudes, but it is a must spot when in Switzlerland. Baar is also only 35 minutes from Zurich, which is full of attractions and also has a very pleasant Botanic Garden of its own with a wild variety of native and foreign flowers on display.
