The Central Park of Culture and Recreation is the largest park in the city. It was named after Doctor Piotr Belousov. Initially, there was a big city dump on the site of the park. It sounds funny but it is true. The local doctor who used to serve as a health officer in the Russian army initiated recultivation of that area in 1893. The waste was covered with new black soil. Moreover, several hundreds of the trees were planted, such as Phellodendron amurense, Quercus rubra, Siberian pine etc. In XXI century, it is the place for any kind of activities and having fun for all ages: biking, playing chess, having a snack, strolling, rollerblading under the trees – you name it. A lot of parents avail themselves of an opportunity to teach their children the names of trees and flowers. Daisies, roses, tulips, lilac, gladioluses, asters are second to none at the Central park of Tula. The flower magic around here is from Spring until late fall time.
