To romantics, the capital city of the People’s Republic of China is Peking, to the rest of the world this magnificent city is Beijing. One of the first things all visitors must see is the Forbidden City. With over 9,000 rooms to explore and sitting on 250 acres, it is impossible to see it all. Tiananmen Square lies in the heart of Beijing and is also home to the daily rising of the flag ceremony. Several are monuments also located throughout the square, along with Chairman Mao’s mausoleum. Bordering the square on the east is the National Museum of China, where visitors will have a chance to learn about the country’s long and historic past. Beijing is also home to a section of the Great Wall of China, and visitors can walk along sections dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Just northwest of the capital city, you will find the Ming Tombs. These 13 tombs contain the remains of all but four of the dynasty’s emperors. The gardens in the Summer Palace will amaze and delight guests with playful topiaries and peaceful lily ponds. The Beijing Botanical Gardens include not only a large rose garden, but also a peony and a traditional herb garden. The perennial bulb garden is almost continually in bloom with lilies, tulips and birds of paradise. There are also over 300 different orchids growing in the Botanical Gardens, including a rare species that does not have roots. Beijing is home to several open air markets, and there are packed with stalls selling everything. Try one of the local dishes, or find one of the many venders selling orchids and small bonsai trees. One of the city’s largest markets is Panjiayuan Market where most of the venders even have their own permanent stalls. Have an elegant bouquet of scented orchids or other exotic flowers delivered by us to almost any address in Beijing.
