This capital city is also officially known as the Special Capital of Jakarta and is the largest city in Indonesia. Visitors who are looking for a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings should make time to stop in Lara Djonggrang. Here you can eat dinner surrounded by Indonesian artifacts and large temple statues. The Museum National is located on the western side of the historic Merdeka Square. Opened in 1862, the museum houses the world’s largest collection of Indonesian artifacts. While cameras are not allowed inside the museum, souvenir stands all have colorful postcards for sale. The Jakarta History museum is in the older section of the city called Batavia. The museum building was once owned by the Dutch colonists during the height of their empire. No visit to Jakarta is complete without a visit to the 100 hectare city park. The Taman Mini Indonesia Indah represents each sector of the Indonesian provinces, and are represented by replica houses. Shop among the local vendors for local crafts and hand sewn clothing. An exotic orchid garden and a bird park are also located on the park’s grounds. Off to the east of Merdeka are the city’s twin spire catholic cathedral and the main temple for Jakarta’s large Muslim population. While Jakarta is home to many public and private gardens, one of the more popular ones is the Bogor Botanical Garden . Located next to the Presidential Palace, the scenery is constantly changing here. While the palace gardens are private, the Bogor Gardens are open to the public. Large canopied trees grace the walkways and paths, and the green lawns often have small groups of tame deer grazing on them. The Botanical Gardens also contains several rare species of orchids, along with serene ponds decorated with floating water lilies. Antheriums and scented white star jasmine can also be found blooming throughout Jakarta’s gardens. Choose from exotic floral arrangements filled with exotic orchids and sweet jasmine and have it delivered to almost any address in Jakarta
