Šiauliai, in northern Lithuania, is considered an important place for religious pilgrimage: it is the location of the Hill of Crosses, a place where Catholic pilgrims bring crosses, crucifixes, rosaries, and effigies in religious tribute. There are estimated to be over 100,000 crosses on the hill. Šiauliai being the fourth-largest city in Lithuania, it also has a fair amount of parks, like the Rekyvos Park; and a botanical garden which is owned by the University of Šiauliai. The garden contains over 180 species of Lithuanian flora, including lilies, lavender, dahlias, sunflowers, rue, roses, tulips, and a large variety of others.
