Cairo is not only the capital of Egypt, it is also the largest city in the Middle East. This unique and fascinating city is also home to the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. It is full of rich history and modern marvels, and there is always something exciting going on. One of the best ways to tour this busy city is by camel, and they are easier to rent than taxis. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo, is one of the most famous museums in the world. Here visitors can see everything from ancient Egyptian tablets to the gold funeral mask of Egypt’s boy king Tutankhamen. The Great Pyramids and The Sphinx are only a short camel ride away, and visitors can go deep inside the King’s Burial Chamber. Stand inside the 400 ft, pyramid and marvel at the skill and craftsmanship. Food is never in short supply in Cairo, and visitors can choose from any number of restaurants all serving traditional fare. Many of the hotels in the city’s busy business quarter all offer amazing views and food, but for an authentic Egyptian meal visitors should go to Naguib Mahfouz Café. Here visitors can sample some of the city’s best kabobs before heading to the nearby open air market. Among the vender stalls at Khan el-Khalili, tourists can find beautiful lotus flowers, clothes and unique souvenirs. On the western edge of Cairo, visitors will find the beautiful Orman Gardens. While the annual flower show is held every March, the garden is filled with color almost all year long. Tall spikes of foxglove and fragrant musk roses line the garden paths, along with dianthus and exotic orchids. Brightly colored bougainvillea , carnations and even the unique desert rose flower can all be found in Cairo’s beautiful gardens. You can easily enjoy these flowers indoors when you have a floral arrangement delivered to almost any address in Cairo.
