Paris has been the center of both France and often Europe for hundreds of years, influencing culture, fashion and even politics. Millions of visitors flock to the French capital city every year to see the famous Eiffel Tower and gaze at Da Vinci’s enigmatic Mona Lisa hanging in the Louvre Museum. The museum is also the former palace of King Louie XIV, and visitors can still wander through the elegant palace grounds including the reflecting ponds. Other must see Parisian sights include the Arc de Triomphe and a stroll down the glamorous Champs Elysees. The city is also home to some of the world’s most beautiful parks and gardens, including Bois de Boulogne. These former hunting grounds were turned into landscaped gardens in the mid 1860’s and opened to the public. It is famous for its abundance of roses and water lilies, along with newly added children’s amusement park and petting zoo. Throughout the alleyways of Paris, visitors can marvel at all of the small kitchen and hanging gardens or stroll down to Le Jardin des Serres d’Auteuil. This small hothouse garden was first open in 1895 to help grow the plants for all of the city’s parks. Now visitors can see beautiful orchids and begonias growing in the hothouse, along with a wide assortment of different tropical palms. Another famous Parisian garden is the Jaden des Plantes. Originally started as a medicinal plant garden for King Louis XIII, it was opened to the public in 1640. Now this garden is also home to some of the region’s most elegant roses, along with a quaint winter garden. Visitors will also be interested to know that the medicinal gardens was where Henri Becquerel first discovered radioactivity in 1896. You can enjoy the elegance and beauty of the French gardens when you have a bouquet of flowers delivered in Paris.
