As another coastal city located in Greece, Patra is not so much known for economic importance (like, for example, Piraeus), but for its large population of students (and the subsequently high volume of scientific projects as a result), its highly active cultural arts scene (focusing on literature and the performing arts), and the extravagant yearly Patra Carnival, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of people from around the world every year. One of Patra’s most wildly popular locales is the Ethnikis Antistaseos Square (which by some people is called Olgas Square): a high number of cafés and restaurants in the area attracts inhabitants from all over the city, and in the square, a high variety of palm trees, roses, violets, and several other flowers, plants, trees, and shrubs can be found.
