An absolutely stunning city, Montreal is a mixture of French and English, with old architecture and a vibrant center. The old town makes for some of the most picturesque photographs you can imagine, and the Notre Dame Basilica is a masterpiece. There is also the fabulous museum of Beaux-Arts and St Joseph’s Basilica. If you wish to check out some plants and flowers in Montreal then the splendid Botanic Gardens make for a good start. Boasting a whopping ten greenhouses and conservatories, the gardens are a wonderful place to explore. There are over 20,000 different species of plants here, Chinese and Japanese Gardens, and a splendid Rose Garden. To purchase some locally grown flowers, head to Marche Atwater, and for a stroll in a more informal garden head to Parc Maisonneuve. If you are lucky enough to be in Montreal in the spring then you are in for a real treat as cherry blossom season gets underway! The Botanical Gardens have beautiful trees, but if you have already seen those then check out Île De La Visitation or the Palais Des Congrès as well for stunning displays of the pink stuff. Montreal also recently hosted a Tulip Festival – fingers crossed it will become an annual affair!
