In the spring months, you can check out the Lemon Scented Myrtle, which gives off an amazing scent. The vibrant flame tree can also be seen here and is a sheer delight, with the red blooms making for a striking photograph opportunity. There are plenty of other floral treats waiting for you at the Mackay Botanic Gardens, including orchids - the Christmas and Golden Orchid to name but a few. And all year round you can be sure to see the Golden Everlasting Daisy. These flowers usually bloom from autumn into summer and are a favorite host of little winged creatures such as butterflies and bees. Keep your camera handy when in Mackay and snap up these photo opportunities as you go. You will also be able to take on several wildflower trails in the area - these give a welcome break from city life and get you out into the great outdoors.
