Barclayville, located in southeastern Liberia, was once four disconnected villages that frequently feuded with one another before being united into one township by President Edwin Barclay in the 1930s. It is located in the Grand Kru County, and is the most populated town in and the capital of the Grand Kru County. Most of the town lives fairly traditionally, and Barclayville is also known for being the site of the county schools, such as the regional high school. Barclayville is known for its farming, and the plants that are found there are mainly agricultural, such as rice, tapioca, and piper nigrum or black pepper.
