Marrickville is well located to explore Sydney's attractions. This is a new, up and coming and hip area stuffed full with a vibrant arts scene, cool dining options and comedy shows. The population is diverse and the area is a great base for checking out the rest of the city. For those interested in Aboriginal History then the Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural and Education Centre is definitely a place to visit. Here you can pick up a number of native handicrafts and learn more about hunting and history. Those who want to check out floral attractions when in Blacktown need look no further than the Chang Lai Yuan Chinese Gardens. Here, take in the traditional Chinese arches and pavilions as well as a pretty gazebo. This is the place to head in the spring if you want to see cherry blossoms in abundance and relax by the ponds with their water lilies. Elsewhere, Sydney's amazing Royal Botanic Garden is a great place to visit if you love flowers. There are even Aboriginal Tours. Check out the red waratah native flower, and many of the other thousands of flowers, trees, shrubs and plants. The rose garden is particularly stunning, with almost two thousand rose bushes on display. Sydney is also home to dozens of flower and garden festivals and shows. The Australian Garden Show is held here annually in September, and features a wide selection of plants and flowers, as well as advise on how to grow them from experts. There are also tulip festivals just out of Sydney in Bowral, or the Leura Garden Festival, both within easy reach of Sydney. Native flowers to the area include the bright Kangaroo Paw.
