The fantastic Meiji-Mura museum is one of the most interesting things to see near Komaki. With reconstructed buildings all assembled in the one place and a wealth of interesting Meiji cultural artefacts spread over a huge area, the museum makes for an excellent day trip. Those who like to see flowers and plants in Komaki are in a great area for exploring. The nearby banks of the Gojo River are a great place to stroll, especially during cherry blossom season – make sure to enjoy the reflection of the pink blossoms in the water as you walk by. Shimin Shiki No Mori park is also an excellent place to explore, and is especially vibrant when the hydrangeas are at their most colourful. About thirty minutes’ drive away is Toyota, famous for its gorgeous wisteria. For the flower lover the excellent Wisteria Festival is a must in Toyota, and is easily accessed from Komaki – a visit during this festival will allow you to witness the fabulous displays of wisteria and azalea draping along the pavements and roads. A walk down Wisteria Alley is an absolute must if you want to really experience this. Interestingly, the Toyota factory has tried to offset some of its emissions created in the manufacturing process by developing its own flowers, derived from the cherry sage and gardenia in an attempt to help reduce its impact on the environment.
