There is lots to do in Matsuyama-shi for all who visit! The Matsuyama Castle is one of the country’s oldest, and is well worth a visit. The castle is simply splendid and the gardens too are a delight in which to stroll. Well, the castle is the best place to start as it has a lovely vantage point from its tower over the hundreds of trees that cover the area with a pink glow. Dogo Park too is a perfect place to check out the flowers and cherry blossoms when in Matsuyama as well, so don’t miss it. For other flowers, look out for the municipal flower - the camellia. Legend has it that this beautiful flower spread over a monument erected after a visit by one of Japan’s princes, and it can be seen today growing all over the city.
