Located just near to Toyohashi, Toyokawa is home to the famous Toyokawa Inari Temple. This shrine is one of the most important in Japan for those following Buddhism. The temple is also a lovely place at which to take in the sight of beautiful cherry blossoms during the early spring months. The city also plays host to the great Iris Festival every year. Over five thousand beautiful flowers are on display here in the Red Tsukayama Park, which is a lovely place in which to take a stroll all year round. About an hour away from Toyokawa is Toyohashi. The botanic gardens in Toyohashi have an interesting flower clock and beautiful water lilies. For cherry blossom viewing in Toyohashi, head to Mukaiyama Ryokuchi or Toyohashi Park and partake in a local pastime of watching the blossoms fall. This is of course dependent on the season, so head there in the early spring for the best chance to see this splendid sight! In the fall, a trip to the Imou Bog[i]will reward you with views of the Eriocaulon Nudicuspe plant blooming across the fields, whilst Mukaiyama Ryokuchi Park is the place to head to soak up the autumn colours as the seasons change.
