For the best wildflowers however head on over to Diamond Head Loop Walk - this is one of the regions best known and loved wildflower trails. The heath is often fully loaded with gorgeous wildflowers, as is the Mermaid Outlook Track which boasts floral attractions from May right through to autumn. Elsewhere, the Laurieton Track at the Doorgan National Park has some gorgeous ferns as well as palm trees. The Rainforest Trail here is home to a bunch of native plants that thrive in a tropical rainforest and makes for a great walk with all the family. If you are heading to Port Macquarie you must bring your camera - and potentially a picnic - so that you can enjoy the area with the clan. As with many wildflower-viewing locations, the spring months are the best time to head here to catch the floral views.
