The iris flowers were damaged by the rain a few days ago in the Village of 4 Seasons, Ryokusuien park near Kōriyama. The park continued on as if nothing was amiss. One hundred square kilometres of abundant nature, awaiting the bird watchers, campers, barbequers, and those who want to play in the fresh water of the Gohyaku River or chat with each other in the central green lawn area.
The iris is named after a rainbow in Greek. In fact, the Greek goddess of the rainbow is also called Iris. It is a bit ironic then that the rainbow flower takes damage from the rain, but we can hope they perk back up again soon.
The Ikeizumi stroll in the park, or the “flower garden" in English, is a nice walk for a relaxing time. April is the month to begin your garden walks to see the flowers. Azalea, forsythia, cherry and plum blossoms and narcissus compete with phlox, rhododendron and skunk cabbage for the spring’s attention.
Once summer comes you can see the lovely iris along with roses and lotus, water lilies and hydrangea along the paths and waterside.
In Kōriyama, you can spend time in the Village of 4 Seasons, every month of the year, to see the beauty of the flowers and relax your mind.
