The Bunkyo area of Tokyo may not have many of the big attractions for which the city is famous, but it has a few interesting sights that should be visited for those that have time. Home to the University of Tokyo, Bunkyo is a great place for flower lovers, as the district hosts the yearly celebration of the azalea plant in the spring at the Nezu shrine. Bunkyo-ku is also a great base for exploring all the nearby towns and cities around Tokyo, especially for those who like green spaces and snapping some pictures of beautiful flowers. The Bonsai Art Museum in Omiya is a great place for those wishing to see some beautiful bonsai trees in many different shapes and sizes, and the Maruyama Park is another pleasant place to head. Here, in the springtime, the beautiful plum and cherry blossoms look spectacular, and the park has plenty of lovely places around which to walk. Meguro is a mere 20 minutes away, and the Meguro River during the cherry blossom festival is the place to head for a picturesque walk through the falling blossoms – a favorite pastime of locals and visitors alike. The Meguro Sky Garden is also a wonderful place to explore, admire the architecture and welcome some green space and tranquility when in the area.
