The city of Izhevsk is a cultural and administrative hub in the Urals of Russia. Known for its armament factories, the city is home to a mixture of ethnicities. The flower of the Udmert Republic, of which Izhevsk is the capital, is the beautiful and vibrant yellow Italmas flower. This bloom features heavily in poetry of the region. Udmertia State University features a delightful Botanical Garden which collects and displays a variety of plants, flowers and shrubs. Nechkinsky National Park is also to be found nearby, and features a beautiful forest landscape containing up to seventy percent of all flora found in the Udmertia State. There are over seven hundred different types of native plants and flowers found here, including almost 150 endangered or rare types. The park is also an interesting place to visit for those who like to see native animals as well. About an hour away from Izhevsk city center is the Varzi Yachti Botanical Flower Garden too, which features an interesting collection of plants and lush treescapes and is a lovely place for a stroll in the summer months. In the summer months the Botanical Garden is awash with color and features lots of interesting places at which to sit and relax or perhaps stop and take a few photographs of the plants and flowers.
