Located on the northeast coast of Queensland lies the city of Townsville. The Reef HQ allows visitors to see the delicate coral reef without damaging the environment. Riverway is a great place for shopping and walking, and Mount Stuart encourages residents and visitors to climb to the top. If you want to see some of the native and imported flowers around Townsville then a visit to Queens Gardens is a must. Located at the base of a castle there is always something to see. Visitors can try to find their way out of the hedge maze and wander along the wide shaded paths. There are several beautifully arranged flower beds in the gardens that change with the seasons. Pansies, petunias and pentas are common, along with tall native grasses and palm trees. Red ti plants can be seen growing next to agave, and giant agapanthus are almost everywhere you look. Coneflowers and coreopsis are common in the perennial gardens, along with azaleas and red bottlebrush bushes. Red jacobian bushes can be seen blooming in the spring, along with ixora and durante. Roses are another popular flower and can be found growing in the city’s public and private gardens.
