A favourite spot amongst locals and tourists alike, Tottori is known for its spectacular sand dunes that stretch for miles. The area also boasts the gorgeous Hakuto Beach for those that love to be by the ocean in the good weather, and several museums for history and culture buffs. Those that seek greenery and flowers in Tottori must head to the Kannon-In Japanese gardens at the Kannon In -Temple. Beautiful trees and vibrant pink and red flowers add a burst of colour to these landscaped gardens, which are a delight to explore in the spring and summer months. Tottori also has its fair share of splendid cherry blossom trees which are best viewed in the spring. Kyusho Park is probably the best place to head to catch the falling blossoms, and during cherry blossom season the hundreds of splendid pink trees are adorned with lights, making for a magical experience. Others prefer to take a romantic stroll along the banks of the Fukurogawa River and view the trees there, taking in the reflection of the blossoms on the water. Tottori is about 2 hours from Matsue and its’ splendid attractions – flower lovers will love the manicured gardens at the Art Museum, as well as the fabulous Yushien Gardens with their water features and gorgeous peonies.
