Brantford Canada is another Canadian city that you may never have thought of visiting. Far off the tourist trail and located around twenty miles from the city of Hamilton, Brantford is perhaps known as the place of the oldest protestant meeting house in Ontario. There is an interesting Brant County Museum and Archive that tells the city's story, and several interesting Indian history points. If you are interested in local plants and flowers then head to the Brant Conservation area, situated just out of town. The park is a great place for hikers and walkers and offers many wildflower trails that are waiting to be explored. You can see here many wildflowers that are growing only in Ontario, as well as a number of Canadian native plants and shrubs. The area is located along the Brant River and is a greater place also to fish, canoe and even swim in the little swimming pool. Bring a picnic with you and make a day of it! Particularly, this park and conservation area is well explored in the spring months as those that want to see native plants hit the trails with their pocketbooks. Wildflowers native to Ontario include alfalfa, bee balm and blazing star. These, amongst others such as the bloodroot and bur marigolds, can be seen all along the walking trails in the spring months and make for excellent photo opportunities. Whether you want to hike to get some fresh air or are a wildflower spotter, Brantford is a great base from which to explore the area. Bring your camera and notebook with you - you will likely find some flowers you have never seen before!
