Yaroslavl’ is a cultural dream for those living there and those who visit, stuffed with museums, churches and monasteries to explore. The Transfiguration Monastery is a favorite place to explore, as is the beautiful Cathedral of the Assumption. The Yaroslavl’ Art Museum is worth a stop, and of course the city is known for its Volkov Theatre and performing arts. For the nature lover, The Residence of Her Majesty the Queen of Maslenitsa is a fabulous place to explore. This folk park recreates the area at the turn of the 20th Century and is a lovely place for a stroll amongst the trees and plants in the park. Yasoslavl’ also has a botanic flower garden, based at the Yaroslavl’ State University. With over one thousand species of plants and a lovely arboretum containing many interesting and beautiful species of local and national trees, locals and visitors alike enjoy a walk in this area. The Strelka Fountains in the city are a another favorite spot for a stroll, and aside from the spectacular fountains that are set off to music, the flowerbeds make for a beautiful atmosphere and contain even a bear shaped flower design which is a delight to young and old alike! On a lovely summer’s day the gardens are awash with color with many types of plants and flowers and are a lovely place to spend several hours.
