Universities for all their faults can certainly be a good breeding ground for intellectualism and free expression, but the fact of the matter is that most places have so much to offer that university life tends to take a bit of a backseat. With this town, however, the university is the main attraction, and it is quite a fine university indeed. This town is known for being home to the Dichterbund, who were a group of poets that helped inspire German romanticism with poetry that they wrote in the latter part of the 18th century.
The Geranium sanguinem is also a great reason to pay this town a visit. Referred to usually by its common name which is bloody geranium, this flower is a mainstay in gardens all across Germany because of the fact that it is so hardy. Taking care of it is so easy because there is very little that can kill it, indeed you would have to make a concentrated effort to kill the flower before you would be able to do so successfully. This makes it perfect for people that want a garden but don’t quite know where to start.
