Not far from China - a mere twenty five kilometers in fact, is the city of Khabarovsk. A slightly overlooked attraction, Khabarovsk is often only passed through by those on the trans-Siberian railway. However, the city is worth exploring, and has many interesting charms - the Far East Regional Museum is one such great attraction, which boasts over half a million interesting exhibits and artefacts. Anthropologists will love this museum for its ethnographical content that focuses on the life and ethnicities of this part of far - east Russia. There are other museums too - a Military Museum as well as the Geological Museum. Locals enjoy plenty of places at which to relax, including along the beachfront at the Amur River or the Khabarovsk Circus for those with children. Flower and greenery lovers should head to the arboretum to take in the trees and the massive collection of over eight hundred different species of plants and flowers that are to be found here in this old botanic and flower garden. Dynamo Park too is a lovely place for a stroll and for those who like to explore green open spaces with plants and flowers dotting the view. It is a popular hangout for young and old alike, as well as with tourists. Think carefully about passing this wonderful city by if you are on the trans-Siberian express - you would miss the strange beach feel in the summer (although you are several hundred miles from the sea) the culture and museums, and of course the wonderful selection of plants and the flowers in the Arboretum that are just waiting to be photographed
