There are more things to do in Sault Sainte Marie than you can shake a stick at. The old town is a charming place to explore and spend some time. Check out the local zoo, take a fishing trip or perhaps even play some golf. In the winter months there are winter sports galore to attend to, and you can find something for all the family to enjoy. If you want to get out of town take the one day wilderness train on a journey through wonderful scenery onward to the Agawa Canyon. The floral sights of Ontario await you as well when you are in Sault Sainte Marie. Elka Park is perhaps one of the best places to check out wildflowers in the area. Offering stunning panoramic views for those game enough to get to the top, waterfalls and gorgeous wooded areas and glens, this park is a nature lover's dream. You will be rewarded also with dozens of different species of wildflowers as you hike upwards, many of which are only native to Ontario. Check out the woodland areas are particularly great for exploring wildflowers and other plant species. If however you wish to check out wildflowers growing in their native habitat then Ontario has a long list of native species. These include alfalfa, bee balm and blazing star. These, amongst others such as the bloodroot and bur marigolds, can be seen all along the walking trails in the spring months and make for excellent photo opportunities. Don't forget to bring your camera with you when you are heading out on a wildflower trail in Sault Sainte Marie and beyond - some of them do not bloom for very long so you will want to snap up a picture before they leave for another year!
