Chiba is found to the east of Tokyo - just under an hour away in fact. The city has a great zoo which is a fantastic day out for all the family, and the Onjuku Beach offers watersports and sunbathing. For shrines, the Katori is perhaps the most splendid and offers some great photo opportunities. Of course, Chiba-shi’s location near to Tokyo makes it well placed for exploring the surrounding area, and flower lovers in particular will be spoiled for choice. Nearby Sumida is home to the Mukojima Hyakkaen Flower Gardens which offer a pleasant place to enjoy the falling cherry tree petals in the cherry blossom season. There is so much to see and do around Chiba-shi that you are simply spoiled for choice here, so make sure you take your camera and leave plenty of time to enjoy the gorgeous flowers. Chiba-shi is within easy commuting distance to Meguro. An absolute must do here is to take a stroll alongside the riverbanks of the Meguro, enjoying the falling flowers from the cherry trees. The district also hosts the Meguro Sky Garden which is worth a look, not only for its’ building but also the flowers and shrubs on display in its’charming gardens. Chiba-shi also near to the district of Shinagawa - this enchanting and pleasant part of the Tokyo metropolis is well worth a look if you are a flower lover. This is definitely the case in the spring when the area is filled with people who flock to see the cherry blossom flowers fall to the ground. A popular pastime is to grab a bento box and sit in one of the flower gardens to watch the sakura flowers fall to the ground. The area around Sakura is also the name of these gorgeous floral petals. Chiba-shi really finds itself best place for so many of Tokyo’s excellent flower-related hotspots. This also includes Mitaka-shi which runs a yearly cherry blossom festival at the central Nougyou Kouen flower gardens. Tokyo and its surrounds are known worldwide for their “sakura” and the city has numerous different parks at which to view the blossoms in the spring months.
