The beautiful city of Salzburg is known for its stunning old town and UNESCO World Heritage status. With amazing baroque buildings and quaint old streets, Salzburg is a delight to explore. The city is dominated by the old fort on the hill – a must visit in itself – and has a fun cable car that visitors use to access the castle. Aside from the Palace itself, the gardens are a splendid place to explore, and include formal flower beds arranged in perfect order, with well manicured lawns and plants to complement the burst of colour. Salzburg is also just over an hours driver to the annual Narzissenfest – the country’s largest flower celebration. The festival takes place in late May or early June every year and celebrates the beautiful narcissi that grow in the region in the late spring.
