Just outside Tokyo lies Atsugi, a popular commuter town. Atsugi is not exactly a tourist attraction in its own right, and is more a residential area. If you are lucky enough to be in Japan during spring you will be rewarded with a stunning display of poppies, and might be lucky enough to catch the poppy festival, whereas visitors in autumn can take in the cosmos. A flower train also transports guests around the park!Verny Park is another excellent place to see the flowers in Yokosuka – there is even a local phrase dedicated to the very act of looking at flowers - O-hanami! Traditional cherry blossoms make a stunning display here in spring, but Verny Park is best known for its beautiful rose gardens.[ii] If you want to join Rose Fest in Yokosuka you’ll need to visit in spring or autumn to see over one hundred different varieties of roses.
