A visit to the city of Yueyang will not disappoint, thanks to its 2500 years of history. Check out the Yueyang Pavilion for wonderful traditional style architecture or the numerous historical points of interest dotted along Dongting Lake. There is also an amazing and only recently uncovered ancient village of Zhang Guying dating back over 600 years with stunning architecture that makes for an excellent trip when visiting Yueyang. Locals and visitors alike love to flock to Dongting Lake for some relaxation, to enjoy the views and to take an evening stroll. And if it is flowers and greenery you seek wen in Yueyang then do not fear – there is plenty to see. Dongting Lake is again a great place to head for flower spotters – it is known for its beautiful lotus flowers, as are many of the other bodies of water and ponds in the area. Yueyanglou Park is another great place to head if you love to see plants and shrubs and has a beautiful Chinese style garden, and the Junshan Island situated in Dongting Lake – with beautiful flower arrangements in spring through to the colourful leaves falling in the autumn there are lots of great natural shrubs and plants to be spotted as you walk through the island.
