This city is a pleasant one to explore and is located in between Sydney and Melbourne. This 19th century city is a fun place to stop if you are travelling in the area. It's a great place to shop, as there is a large shopping mall and lots of other boutiques and stores around. Wodonga is also an outdoor lovers playground, with numerous trails, mountain biking routes and hiking areas just waiting to be explored. The city is a great base for exploring the natural attractions of the wider area. And if you are a flower lover there is plenty to see as well. The Castle Creek Conservation Reserve is a great place to start on a wildflower trail and will lead you to see many different types of lilies and orchids that bloom in October. There is also plenty of different types of wattle to see as well. Wodonga is home to several conservation areas, known as the Retained Environment Network, and you will be blessed with numerous flowers on the trails. Pea flowers are a favorite flower here and grow freely amongst the grassland, as do sundews. But it is the orchids that are in bloom from the month of August right through to December that make it worth the walk. Grasses and shrubs are also on display wherever you go - check out the box-gum (which is now endangered) and wallaby grass. You may be lucky enough to see the beautiful everlasting daisy growing amongst them! There are a number of wildflower groups in the city and you can go on a guided tour (usually in October) or pick up a leaflet and take a self guided trip through the flowers! You will need your camera with you if you do - don't miss the chance to snap a photographs of these beautiful blooms before they disappear!
