Hamm is quite a small and a quiet city located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Formerly being a coalmining city, the place has now shifted to logistics and manufacturing and has an organized housing system. Hamm goes back to 13th century and used to be a member of Hanseatic League, an association of trading cities.
There are various touring and visiting spots in the city including but not limited to Glaselefant, Sri-Kamadchi-Ampal-Tempel, Kurpark, Pauluskirche, Gustav Lübcke Museum, Zeche Heinrich-Robert and Maximilian park.
Maximilian park is all about entertainment served to the visitors. The park is currently located on the site of former Zeche Maximilian coal mine which was unoperational since 1914. Maximilian park was opened as “Federal Garden and Flower-show” back in 1984. Now, the place serves as a mini theme park with a variety of things to see and games to play for young people and those who are young at hearts.
In order to enter, you have to pay an entrance pay which allows you to access all the areas of the park. There is a water park where children have the time of their life. The butterfly park where several species of butterflies are kept is loved by many tourists. Moreover, there are a lot of playgrounds inside the park where the children can play outside games or do some activities.
The best part about the park is Glaselefant, an elephant made of glass panels, designed by the artist and architect Horst Rellecke in 1984. It is counted as the largest animal-shaped building in the world. The structure was recently renovated and LED lights were attached with glass panels that change colors.
