The beautiful city of Salzburg is known for its stunning old town and UNESCO World Heritage status. With amazing baroque buildings and quaint old streets, Salzburg is a delight to explore. The city is dominated by the old fort on the hill – a must visit in itself – and has a fun cable car that visitors use to access the castle. When in Salzburg make sure to stop by Mozart’s house which includes an interesting museum or visit the gorgeous Salzburg Cathedral and surrounding square. And no visit to this charming city would be complete without a stroll down the beloved Getreidegasse for some people watching and places to eat. Those on the lookout for some greenery and flowers in Salzburg need look no further than the Mirabell Palace and Gardens. Aside from the Palace itself, the gardens are a splendid place to explore, and include formal flower beds arranged in perfect order, with well manicured lawns and plants to complement the burst of colour. Salzburg is also just over an hours driver to the annual Narzissenfest – the country’s largest flower celebration. The festival takes place in late May or early June every year and celebrates the beautiful narcissi that grow in the region in the late spring.
