The city on the hill Tambov was founded in 1636 at the confluence of two rivers Tzza and Studenets. Administratively the city belongs to the Central Federal District. Being located near the capital of Russia Moscow, the city is a major economic and transport center of the Tambov region. The population of the city is 285 thousand, but unfortunately, there is a tendency to decrease the number of inhabitants due to the difficult demographic situation.

The vegetative world of the city and its environs are quite numerous and diverse. The city is surrounded by a terrain, equally represented by its taiga variety and steppe. Thanks to this near the city you can admire the beautiful scenery. In the Tambov region grows about 1250 representatives of the flora, many plants are included in the Red Book. In the forests, grow dog-rose, viburnum, juniper. In mid-May, you may be fortunate enough to meet the rarely found European bathing-place, which pleases the eye with large yellow globular flowers. The bathing place is listed in the Red Book. And on the slopes of the beams and in the valleys, there is another wild beauty, listed in the Red Book-hyacinth whitish. Whitish it is named because of white and sometimes light blue flowers. In April, adonis appears spring, bright yellow flowers cover the slopes of the steppe beams. Another Red Book plant, already quite rare in the Tambov region - almonds the low. Its pinkish flowers blossom in May. Aster chamomile flowers in summer, in June. Several decades ago, it could be found almost everywhere near Tambov, now it has practically disappeared, therefore it is listed in the Red Book. But in the city, you can admire the beautiful flowers-tulips, especially in the flowerbeds near the Kazan Cathedral. Rose served as a decoration of the city in the summer season. City dwellers make their contribution each year planting new varieties of decorative flowers.
