Harburg is a cosy little town situated on the Wörnitz River in Bavaria, a part of the Donau-Ries district. The city is rich in pleasant sceneries, with it being part of the extensive route called "Romantische Straße" (romantic road) that leads to one of the most notable medieval castles in all of Germany and remained mostly unharmed by war.
Harburg, (also known as Harburg (Schwaben) so as to not be confused with the better-known Hamburg suburb, is a pleasurable sight for wandering tourists with its quaint footpaths and impressive cultural sights and is ideal for daytime stops.
Perhaps the most popular destination is the Harburg castle itself which came into existence in 1150 and strongly represents the prestige vibe of the Middle ages unlike several other German castles which had to be modified due to war. The castle was also famous for being the castle of Michael Jackson’s dreams who went as far as trying to buy it but couldn’t. There is also a rare historic Jewish cemetery that serves as proof to the town's well preserved history.
The town takes an active part in nature conservation ensured by the Nature Network Niedersachsen, which is dedicated to Harburg's flora. The city natively grows more than a 1000 species of vascular plants including horsetail ferns and flowering plants. There are also a plenty of widely distributed species such as nettle and daisies growing all around.
