Situated on the outskirts of Bern, Koeniz is well located to explore the attractions that Bern has to offer. Only 10 minutes from Bern’s city centre, you can be sure to access all of the most popular things to see in Bern right on your doorstep. This includes the spectacular old town, dating back to the 1400s, and its streets full of cafes and shops. The town clock is a favourite tourist icon, and the cathedral is also worth exploring. History lovers can head to the history museum, and those who prefer modernity are in for a real treat at the fantastic modern art museum dedicated to Paul Klee. For flower lovers there is plenty to see near Koeniz, including the Botanic Gardens. This is a particularly pleasant display of formal flower arrangements that make for a pleasant couple of hours viewing. There are many native alpine species to be seen here, as well as greenhouses with more exotic plants. In fact, there are more than 1500 types of plants, flowers and shrubs here, and once you are done you can take a break in the little café whilst admiring the view. The Botanic Gardens are a popular spot for a stroll. About 30 minutes drive away from Koeniz lies the stunning Chasseral Regional Park, a huge expanse of national park and an outdoor lovers’ dream. The Parc Régional Chasseral boasts a wide range of different alpine species that burst into colour in the spring as the snow melts. Take a hilly climb up here in the early spring and you will be rewarded with bursts of yellow and white flowers that make for extra good photo opportunities!
