The pleasant city Sherbrooke lies at the meeting point of two rivers and offers plenty to do for those visiting and living in the area. Others prefer to visit the old Winter Prison or travel just out of town to see the Windsor Powder Mill. Along the country roads around Sherbrooke you will be rewarded with beautiful fields of lavender as you drive around the countryside. And don’t forget - from Sherbrooke you are also only 1 ½ hours’ drive from the attractions that Montreal has to offer, including the splendid Botanic Gardens. Boasting a whopping ten greenhouses and conservatories, the gardens are a wonderful place to explore. There are over 20,000 different species of plants here, Chinese and Japanese Gardens, and a splendid Rose Garden. To purchase some locally grown flowers, head to Marche Atwater, and for a stroll in a more informal garden head to Parc Maisonneuve.
