Hamamatsu has an interesting airplane museum, as well as some cool underground caves just waiting to be explored. There is also the most famous attraction in the area for flower lovers - the Hammatsu Flower Park is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Here, check out the stunning displays of flowers here which are just as vibrant in the winter months as in the summer. Extraordinary displays of tulips here abound, and if you are able to visit in the cherry blossom season then you will be rewarded with stunning views of cherry blossoms as their petals fall to the ground and are enjoyed by all who visit. Nearby Toyohashi is worth a visit too if you have the time when in Hamamatsu. This port city is a mix of peoples and has lots of interesting sights on offer including the Yoshida Castle and the church. Perhaps the best attraction for the flower lover is the stunning Toyohashi Botanical Gardens which boast some gorgeous plants, trees, flowers and shrubs, and also feature a clock made of flowers. If you are here in the sakura season make sure to visit Mukaiyama Ryokuchi Park and sit and watch the blossoms fall with the locals. Hakone can also be reached in under 2 hours by train from Hamamatsu and has a lovely rose garden as well as lots of exotic plants on display at the Gora Park. Nearby Mishima is also full of things to see and do, and includes the interesting Fuji Shibazakura festival which showcases this gorgeous flower in various varieties and colors. It boasts many attractions as well, including plenty to do for the flower lover.
