As with many Japanese towns, Tsu-shi has a castle and castle grounds. Here, during the spring months, the grounds are a favorite spot at which to partake in the local pastime of cherry blossom viewing. The town is also home to several splendid beaches which become crowded in the summer months as surfers try to catch a wave. The city is also home to the beautiful Suzuka no Mori Garden, whose stunning displays of plum trees and their gorgeous blossoms are best viewed in the spring. During the plum blossom festival the trees are adorned with lights in the evenings, making a trip here an extra special experience. Join in with the locals as they enjoy some drinks and food under the trees and share poetry or simply chat as the night draws in.
